Teaching in schools

The Faculty of Education is one of the educational leaders in innovation in undergraduate teaching and learning with creative online support. It has one of the most comprehensive and significant departments of Adult & Continuing Education in the UK with a strong international reputation. The faculty is ranked amongst the best worldwide for its community development work.

As well as developing educational thought, the Faculty of Education has a particular responsibility to prepare students for teaching in Catholic schools.

Teaching qualification for graduates:

The faculty hosts the Joint Honours degree in Technology & Management which is coordinated by the Robert Clark Centre for Technological Education in partnership with the Department of Management. It also offers a BA Community Development degree for students already working with adults in a community setting.

The faculty also offers a Certificate in Religious Education by Distance Learning (CREDL) which is recognised by the Bishops of Scotland as a preliminary qualification in generalist Catholic Religious Education for students who wish to teach Religious Education in Catholic primary or secondary schools and who were unable to attend the Faculty of Education of the University of Glasgow. It can be completed concurrently with a BEd or PGDE course, or subsequently.
