Courses leading to the Certificate in Higher Education (including language courses)
The Department of Adult & Continuing Education’s programme of courses for credit includes courses in:
- Adult learning
- Archaeology and classical studies
- Visual arts
- History
- Literature and drama
- Music
- Philosophy
- Science
- Social science.
These part-time courses, many of which take place in the evening, are mainly 20 credit courses at Level-1 although there are a few Level-2 courses available.
Students who gain 120 credits and obtain the Certificate of Basic IT Competence (see page 29) qualify for a Certificate in Higher Education or credit may be transferred into degree programmes at the University of Glasgow or other higher education institutions.
The department also offers the Certificate in Community Learning & Development, equivalent to the first year of a degree programme.
