PgCertificate Primary Science
The Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Science has been developed to enhance the skills, knowledge and confidence required for the delivery of the modern science curriculum in Scottish primary schools.
It has at its heart the development of the underlying principles of pedagogy and science. It is matched both to the Curriculum for Excellence and many of the new recent scientific developments.
The Course is a mixture of evening, on line and school based activities.

The programme is for GTCS registered primary teachers with an interest in science
What will you get from this programme?
The programme aims to provide you with the confidence and skills to :
Engage in personal research
• Critically review, consolidate and extend your personal knowledge and practical skills in primary science.
• Apply the principle theories of learning and teaching to your classroom practice
• Develop strategies for the for the introduction of field work and debate into practice
• Demonstrate creativity in course design
• Develop leadership skills in science at primary school level
• Encourage a continued interest and enthusiasm for science.
Programme Structure
The Certificate has 3 courses:
Course 1 ; Successful learners in Primary science
Course 2 : Confident Individuals in Primary science
Course 3 : Responsible Citizens in Primary science.
The programme runs over 18 months on a part time basis.
