Supporting Children Through Family Change: Bereavement

This one day course is aimed at all staff working in nursery,
primary, secondary and special schools.
The course will allow participants to explore the nature of loss
and grief, its impact on young people and the possible effects
on learning and well-being. The role which school staff can take
to support pupils will be explored.
The course will be led by Mary Lappin and Pauline Lynch.
Mary Lappin is a Lecturer in Religious Education at the
Faculty of Education, University of Glasgow. She has teaching
experience in a variety of posts in schools throughout Scotland,
London and Canada. She has developed an interest and expertise
in Grief and Loss Education and pioneered the introduction of
the 'Seasons for Growth' Grief Education programme in Scotland.
Pauline Lynch is a Chartered Educational Psychologist
who has been working in local authorities with children and families
and has trained staff in a variety of areas including dealing
with challenging behaviour, anger management and coping with bereavement
and loss.
The cost of the course will be £120 per person,
including morning coffee and buffet lunch.
