"EQUINE EDUCATION "
MARTHE KILEY-WORTHINGTON
JUNE 2nd - 3rd, 2002
Marthe Kiley-Worthington is a leading equine behaviourist,
and the author of many books and articles on behaviour and welfare.
This workshop is a rare opportunity to learn with the best about how
your horse
sees the world and how you can effectively teach your horse.
It will be valuable for anyone at any level or discipline.
Marthe will bring her Arab stallion Druimghigha Oberlix who competes
at the
highest level in Arab endurance Racing (up to 160km/day).
He is working at Prix St George level in dressage and
works in harness on the land.
Her mare Druimghigha Shemal won the Arab Horse Society
Marathon in 2000. Marthe will give a demonstration of
“Dancing with Horses” and show her work on language comprehension
...both these horses understand over 200 words!
There really will be something for everyone, so the workshop is structured
to teach general
principals on the first day, and then to have individual or small group
lessons on the second day.
Topics covered are likely to be:
how horses learn and how best to teach them;
preparing horses for endurance;
dancing with horses;
working in harness;
dealing with problems;
handling from the ground;
beginning classical dressage e.g. airs above the ground;
working with young horses;
natural balance shoeing.
The cost of the 2-day workshop is £65 for non-riding participants and £85 if you wish to bring a horse. (Horse places limited). This includes tea and coffee over both days and a veggie meal for the evening social. Accommodation is available locally and you are welcome to camp on the farm.
Venue: Sinnington Manor, Kirbymoorside, Pickering, N. Yorks
