University of Tübingen, Germany

The Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (University of Tübingen) was founded in 1477 and is one of Germany’s most famous and oldest universities with a particular reputation for medicine, natural sciences, theology and the humanities.

Tübingen is a town of 85,000 people in the south-west of Germany. It is a traditional university town, with about one third of the overall population being students. The town features a turreted castle, many half-timbered townhouses and cobbled lanes. Among its most notable inhabitants were Pope Benedict XVI, Friedrich Hölderlin, Johannes Kepler and Goethe. Beergardens, old town cafés and the plane-tree-lined Neckar river give this town a relaxed atmosphere.
