The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice was created in 1991 and has a student body of 13,500.

České Budějovice, in English sometimes referred to as Budweis, is a ciy of 93,000 in the south of Czech Republic. It is located in the centre of the valley of the Vltava river. The city was founded in 1265 and is particularly famous for its rich beer tradition, dating back to the 13th century as well. Budweiser beers along with Pilsner from Plzeň became some of the most famous lagers and today Budweiser Budvar is one of the most exported beers from the Czech Republic. The town square of České Budějovice is one of the largest in Europe and the streets are defined by lively pubs and elegant arcades.
