The University of Gothenburg has 37, 000 students and 6,000 employees and is one of the most popular universities in Sweden. Together with Uppsala, Lund, and Stockholm universities, it is one of four large international research universities in Sweden. The University of Gothenburg is a city university and most of its facilities are within the city centre of Gothenburg. 

Gothenburg, situated on the west coast, is the second largest city in Sweden. It began as a traditional industrial port city and has evolved into an exciting and modern centre for creativity and innovation. Today Gothenburg is a strong knowledge and information hub with a strong presence of its research-intensive pharmaceutical and automotive industries, as well as higher education, IT and media production.
