Heidelberg University, Germany

Universität Heidelberg (Heidelberg University), founded in 1386, is among the oldest and most reputable universities in Germany. It has been associated with 56 Nobel laureates.

Heidelberg is located in the south-west of Germany, close to the river Neckar and surrounded by forest. With its romantic and picturesque cityscape including Heidelberg Castle and the baroque style old town, Heidelberg is one of Germany’s biggest tourist destinations and yet it retains a spirited student atmosphere. Its rich literary history and thriving contemporary scene of authors, publishing houses, bookshops, libraries and festivals saw it named a UNESCO City of Literature in 2014.
