Ghent University, Belgium

The Universiteit Gent (Ghent University) is one of the major universities in Belgium, founded in 1817. It has approximately 41,000 students and is ranked 70th – 130th in the world, depending on the ranking.

Ghent is the capital and largest city of East Flanders, Belgium. In the late Middle Ages it became one of the largest and richest cities in Northern Europe and retained much of its Architecture in a charming canal-side setting. The city is full of quirky bars and interesting museums. The ten-day-long "Ghent Festival" is held every year and attended by roughly 1-1.5 million visitors. Ghent has the largest designated cyclist area in Europe, with nearly 400 kilometres of cycle paths.
