Terms & Conditions

OUR OBJECTIVE is to raise money for the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre in Glasgow so thank you for taking part in this year’s Cycle Glasgow – we really appreciate your support!

Your entry fee will cover the running costs of the event so, for us to reach our goal, it is essential you raise as much sponsorship money as you can.

To maximise your sponsorship please encourage your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsor form.

THE EVENT
1. Entrants must be 7 years or older.  Junior entrants (under 16) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2. You can enter as a group or as an individual.  Groups must nominate a team leader who will send in entry forms, receive and distribute entry packs and send in sponsorship money collected by the group.  This should be the first name on the entry form.  All sponsorship money will be added to the nominated groups leader and any naming opportunities (for gifts over £250) will be linked to this person.

3. It is essential that overhaul your bike before the event.  Dr Bikes will be available to help on the day but only for basic bike repairs on the course.  There will be a charge this year for maintanence.

4. If you travel to Glasgow by car, please note that parking on Kelvin Way is now metered. Parking is available in the main campus at the University of Glasgow off University Avenue. Free parking is also available on Kelvingrove Street and Royal Terrace, although always check the meter. Public toilets are on Kelvin Way.

5. Arrival:  Please do not arrive in Kelvingrove Park earlier than 9.40am.  All participants should enter the park from the corner of Kelvingrove Street/Parkgrove Terrace/Royal Terrace.  NOT Kelvin Way.

6. Junior cyclists (Under 16 years) must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian who is responsible for their safety throughout the route.

7. T-shirt, Entrant Number and Helmet: please wear all three items.   The first two help us to spot if your bike is in trouble, and the helmet will protect you if you have a fall.  Fasten your number to the front of your bike.

8. The Start: In order not to choke the route, groups of cyclists will be started between approximately 10.00am and 10.40am. Please be patient.  If you have already entered there is no need for you to report to the Information Caravan, go directly to the start area.

9. The Route:  Please obey the instructions of all stewards and police on the route.   Remember to adhere to the HIGHWAY CODE at all times, keeping to the left when facing oncoming traffic on the cycle path and using a bell to alert other cycle path users who can not see you approach.  If you are in need of assistance please approach a steward who will be wearing a brightly coloured tabard.

10. The Finish: On completion of the course in Kelvingrove Park we hope you will bring along a picnic and continue to enjoy the fun and support other cyclists.

11. Close Down: This will be progressive and will start after 1.30pm.   To ensure our many dedicated volunteers are not at their posts for longer than 5 hours the route will be stewarded until 2.00pm and the finish area will be staffed until 3.00pm.

12. If you leave the course at any point please inform a steward.  If you fail to do this we will be searching for you after the event

13. Late Entry: The Information Caravan in Kelvingrove Park will accept on-the-day entries of £15.00 per adult and £7.50 per junior so long as the maximum number of entries has not been reached.
