Transport to Glasgow
RAIL : Direct trains run from London (5 hours) or Aberdeen (2.5 hours). The views of the Lake District on the west coast main line are particularly fine. There are two city-centre train stations, Queen Street and Central Station. National Rail Enquiries
COACH : Buchanan Bus Station is the main terminus for long distance coaches.
ROAD : From Carlisle, Newcastle and the south, exit M74 on to the M73, joining the M8 at the Old Monkland junction. M8 exits for the University are J18 if travelling from the south, Edinburgh and the north and J19 if coming from Glasgow Airport and the west. Other main routes serving the University include Great Western Road (A82, north of campus), Clydeside Expressway (A814, south) and Byres Road (B808, west). Car parking on the University campus and surrounding area is extremely difficult.
AIR: Don't fly if you don't have to. Aviation contributes about 4% of global CO2 emissions. A flight from London to Glasgow will emit 0.15 Tonnes of CO2 (climate care.org)
Glasgow International Airport
is situated seven miles to the west of the University. There is an airport bus service to the city centre (~15 minute journey). The taxi fare is in the region of £15-20. Tel: 0870 040008
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is situated 22 miles south-west of the University. There is a railway station at the airport (~45 minute journey to Glagsow Central) and an airport bus service to the city centre. Tel: 01292 511000
Transport within Glasgow

BUSES: Routes 11 and 44 run through the main campus from the city centre. Buchanan Street Bus station is located uphill from Queen St train station.
UNDERGROUND: The main station for the University is Hillhead. (Glasgow map). Buchanan St and St Enoch underground stations serve Queen Street and Central Station respectively.
CYCLE RACKS: are provided on campus at A21, B3, B4, E1 and E2 (campus map).
