about Prof Newlands

Professor of Divinity.
Educated at Edinburgh, (MA, BD, PhD, D Litt.) Heidelberg and Cambridge(MA, Churchill), he has been Principal of Trinity College, Dean of the Faculty of Divinity and Head of Department in Glasgow, and was previously a University Lecturer in Divinity in Cambridge, and Dean of Trinity Hall. He chairs the Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies panel for HEFCE Research Assessment Exercise 2008. 

Professor Newlands has been a Visiting Professor in Mainz, a Visiting Scholar in Princeton and in Claremont, California, and has given Henson Lectures in Oxford (Generosity and the Christian Future.)  He has convened the Panel on Doctrine of the Church of Scotland, served on the Doctrine Commission of the Church of England, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.  Current project - The Hospitality of God.
