Postgraduate Degrees in the Department of Scottish Literature

The Department of Scottish Literature offers the following opportunities for postgraduate study: 

Taught Degrees

MLitt in Scottish Literature. Please note that due to course re-design, the MLitt in Scottish Literature will not be running for the session 2009-10.

MLitt in Scottish Literature by Distance Learning. Please note that due to course re-design, the MLitt in Scottish Literature by Distance Learning will not be running for the session 2009-10.

MLitt in Scottish Studies. The MLitt in Scottish Studies is an interdisciplinary degree run jointly between the Department of Scottish Literature and Department of History which introduces students to core aspects of Scottish History, Literature, and Culture.  

Research Degrees

MPhil in Scottish Literature.This is a one year degree (two years part-time) in which students research a topic of their own choosing, culminating with the submission of a supervised dissertation. Students are also offered subject-specific training to help prepare them for PhD study.

MLitt (Research) in Scottish Literature. This is an advanced research degree which runs over two years (full-time) concluding with the submission of a long dissertation on your chosen research topic.

PhD: Supervised research in a particular area is carried out over three years, resulting in a substantial dissertation.All our degrees can be taken as full or part-time courses. For further information on postgraduate study in the department of Scottish Literature, please contact us.
