Fiona Leverick joined the School of Law in August 2007, having previously been a senior lecturer in law at the University of Aberdeen.  Her research interests lie in the areas of criminal law (and criminal defences in particular), criminal procedure and criminal justice.  Along with Peter Duff and James Chalmers, she recently completed two research projects funded by the Scottish Executive: one assessing the impact of recent reforms in High Court procedure and the other evaluating the pilot victim statement schemes.  She has published two books on criminal defences: Killing in Self-Defence (OUP, 2006) and Criminal Defences and Pleas in Bar of Trial (with James Chalmers, SULI/W. Green, 2006).  She is happy to supervise research students in any aspect of criminal law or criminal procedure.

Research interests

Criminal law, criminal justice and criminal procedure generally.  Especially interested in criminal defences, criminal appeals, plea bargaining and the role of the victim in the criminal process.
