Dr. Gardani obtained her MA (Hons) and PhD in Psychology at the University of Glasgow.  Her PhD research focused on the investigation of the role of serotonin in circadian clock function and the endogenous mechanisms that may assist the treatment of transient disorders, such as jet lag and shift work.  Following a postdoctoral research post at the University of Glasgow Sleep Centre, Dr Gardani is currently a Sackler Research Fellow working with Professor Tom McMillan in head injury research.

Dr Gardani's research interests include the investigation of changes in biological markers following head injury and the identification of sleep difficulties in patients after traumatic brain injury.
