Primate Consciousness
Most of the research into animal consciousness has been carried out on primates, this is due to the similarity between primate and human cognition. It is believed that humans have 98.4% of the same DNA as chimps. Primate and human brains have evolved from the same brain, whose mental processes have become specialised as they have adapted to specific social needs.
