In order to proceed to the submission of dissertation for MSc (MedSci), students must score at least 100/200 in parts A and B with a minimum of 50/100 marks in the degree examination (part B).
In order to graduate MSc (MedSci) students need to score at lest 150/300 in parts A,B and C.
Students with outstanding performance in each part of the course will be considered for MSc (MedSci) with Distinction by the internal and external examiners following the oral examination.
Students who score a minimum of 80/200 in parts A and B may complete a clinical or laboratory attachment in term 4 before undertaking the oral examination. On satisfying their supervisor and the examiners, they will be awarded the Diploma in Medical Genetics.

In order to proceed to the clinical or laboratory attachment, students must score at least 80/100 in parts A and B. There is no formal written assessment of the attachment, but students must satisfy their supervisor and the examiners at the oral examination that they have reached the required standard for award of the Diploma in Medical Genetics.
* Continuous assessment is made up of practical and written assignments in terms 1-2; the class examination at the end of term 2 and a group mark for the problem based learning in term 3.
