The Scottish Mountain Photo Gallery is privileged to host:

"The Morss Collection" of Aerial Photographs of the Mountains and Islands of Scotland.

The photographs in this unique collection were taken from low flying military aircraft in the late 1950's and early 1960's. All photos copyright and courtesy of the Morss Collection.

Arran

Aerial view of Brodick Bay looking NW towards the mountains surrounding Glen Rosa. Taken from a test flight about 1960. 

Aerial view Looking East over the A'Chir Ridge. The Mauvais Pas is the notch in the ridge in the foreground. The route descends on the east side of the ridge about half way along the level section to the South of the Mauvais Pas. Cir Mhor with its prominent South Ridge is in the sunlight to the North. Goatfell is the highest peak in the middle distance to the South. 

Aerial view Looking South South West over Cir Mhor. The dark South Ridge can be seen  to the left of the summit. The curving corrie of Casteal Abhail can be seen through the mist to the right.

Over the misty Firth of Clyde can be seen the Galloway Hills; Cairnsmore of Carsphairn, the Rhinns of Kells, The Merrick and Shalloch on Minnoch.

Skye

Looking up Coire na Creich to Sgurr an Fheadain in the foreground, split its Waterpipe Gully. The main Cuillin Ridge stretches from Pinnacle Ridge, Sgurr nan Gillean, Am Bastier, Bruach na Frithe, Bidean Druim nan Ramh and the four tops of Sgurr a' Mhadaidh. The sloping ridge of Sgurr Thuilm is in the right foreground. Bla Bheinn (Blaven) is in the middle distance. Ben Nevis is on the extreme right of the horizon

Ben Nevis

Aerial view, looking South over the Ben Nevis Plateau. North East Buttress rises from the bottom left. To the right of this are Orion Face, Zero Gully, Observatory Buttress, 0.5 Gully and Gardyloo Gully.
