
Patna.to Dalrymple: 12.6km 153 metre drop. This section can only be run in spate. Boulder weirs in Patna should be covered. Grade3+ but with long Grade 2 section below Skeldon Mills. Put in at Patna, park in bay in front of houses at NS417100. Takeout in Dalrymple below bridge NS358143. Park in lane which runs west off B742 immediately north of the bridge. Hazards: Low iron bridge spanning river at island NS408124, may need to be portaged. Large tree spanning river in Boreland Gorge (approximately NS405126) required portage river right 15/11/02.
The first of two drops below Polnessan. There is a large river-wide stopper below the second.

Riverside inn to the sea: 4.4 miles drop 82 feet. Grade 2, but have a look at the weirs. Put in at Riverside Inn NS336135. Park at back of overflow car park, buy pint of Guinness afterwards. Access river through two steel gates (friendly horses) and over stile. Takeout at Doonfoot river left NS324194. Can be paddled at any level due to dam release from Loch Doon. Sundays are best in fishing season. Hazards: fence posts with barbed wire enter river from right bank at NS332156.
