Profile
Emilie graduated from the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon, France (DUT Biological Sciences, 2000) and Coventry University as an ERASMUS direct entrant (BSc. Biological Sciences, 2001). She gained her PhD (2005) in Biological Sciences after training at Warwick University’s Horticulture Research Centre in collaboration with Coventry University, working mainly on lipid oxidative pathways and flavour biosynthesis. Her first post-doctoral position at the University of Glasgow focused on the interplay between dietary nitrate and antioxidants in the formation of nitrosamines in the stomach; she then worked as a research associate on a project investigating urinary phenolic acids as biomarkers of disease and fruits and vegetables consumption. She recently joined Human Nutrition at Glasgow to expand her research and contribute to the curriculum.
Research
Emilie’s research interests currently focus on the role of dietary phytochemical in chronic malignancies, oxidative and nitrosative stresses in relation to human nutrition and inflammation as well as the role of gender, ageing and nutrition in inflammation, immune senescence and tumour development. She contributes to the Gut, Food and Metabolism Research Group and the Diet and Chronic Disease Translational Research Group.
