The Simultaneous Evolution of Seismicity and Permeability within Geologic Faults
Welcome!
This website contains information, news and resources regarding the NERC-funded project 'The Simultaneous Evolution of Seismicity and Permeability within Geologic Faults', a joint project awarded to the University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, Boston University (USA) and the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil).
The research will be undertaken by the Faults and Fluid Flow research collaboration and focuses on Reservoir Induced Seismicity (RIS) at the Açu Reservoir, northeast Brazil. We will use combined digital seismograph data, hydromechanical modelling and field characterization of faults in crystalline rocks to improve understanding of the spatial heterogeneity and temporal evlolution of fault zone hydraulic properties.
