Welcome to Department of Educational Studies,

Since the merger between the University of Glasgow's Department of Education and St Andrew's College in 1999, the Department of Educational Studies has come a long way. The Department is continuing to grow, building on our strengths and moving into the new areas that will be crucial to the success of knowledge-based societies in the twenty-first century, and we aim to become an international centre of learning.

The Department continues to raise its profile on international educational issues, covering   all aspects of learning, from pre-5 to adult continuing education. The Educational Studies staff have important national and international connections and work closely with a range of organisations in Glasgow and across Scotland, indeed, this session has seen both the Department and Faculty attract high profile educational thinkers for keynotes, lectures and seminars demonstrating our continually growing reputation and on the international stage.

Educational Studies offers courses leading to higher degrees in all areas of education and related aspects of professional practice. To respond to the professional and personal requirements of practitioners at all levels, part-time and distance learning courses have been added to the portfolio of full-time courses delivered. The Department has many postgraduate taught and research students from the UK and many overseas countries, offering students the benefits of teaching based on the most up to date research. Applications and enquiries are welcomed from students, both nationally and internationally.

Whether you are considering becoming a student in the Faculty of Education or wish to find out more about the breadth of the activities, we hope you enjoy browsing our site.
