Undergraduate study in Economics

Welcome

The Department of Economics extends a warm welcome to all prospective undergraduate students browsing this web site.  We hope you find the information contained in this section of the web site useful.  If you have further questions, then please contact us in writing, by email or by telephoning the appropriate person.

Why study economics?

Knowledge of economics is indispensable to those interested in current affairs.  If you take a close look at the major news stories over the last year, for example, you will realise that economics is central to most of the key issues that have been discussed.  It is also an ideal complement for many other disciplines including accounting, law, management, statistics, sociology and psychology.  Why Study Economics? is a useful external web site providing information on the study of economics.  Last, but not least, Economics graduates have an interesting range of careers options and excellent earnings potential - see our alumni web pages for details.
