PhD topic

'Determinants of innovative activities in Scotland and policy consequences'
Samuel's research will identify the factors causing Scottish innovation through comparison with other successful countries in this area. A major aspect will be to establish the relevance of the "absorptive capacity" problem of SMEs.

Background

Samuel started research for his PhD in October 2006. He is located in the Centre for Public Policy for Regions and will be working with the Scottish Executive. He has a BSc in Economics and Finance from the University of York and studied for his MSc Economics at Warwick University.
