The Department offers three PhD programmes allowing students to choose a study route that is tailored to their individual requirements and objectives. Two programmes are PhDs by research, appropriate for students with a Masters degree in Economics or a related field, who will complete a research project and produce a thesis under the supervision of two members of the academic staff.
The PhD in Quantitative Finance combines taught and research elements whereby students follow a taught curriculum in the first year, successful completion of which leads to the award of MSc, and receive further teaching while undertaking research in subsequent years. Entry requirements are detailed on the programme web page but appropriately qualified students may enter the second year directly. In common with research-based PhDs, students receive academic supervision to complete a research project and produce a thesis.
Students may apply for more than one programme.
