Background

Brian Pollitt was appointed as Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Law, Business and Social Sciences in 2008, based in the Department of Economics.  He previously held a similar appointment in the Department of Anthropology.  Between 1975 and 1996 he was based at the University of Glasgow as lecturer and then senior lecturer in Latin American Studies.

He has been a visiting professor/fellow at various institutions including Trinity College, Cambridge (1982 to 1983), University of Massachusetts (1977 to 1978) and University of Concepcion, Chile (1972 to 1973).  From 1974 until 1975, he was a lecturer at the University of Adelaide before which he was a Research Fellow at the Australian National University, Canberra.  During his time at Yale University (1971 to 1972), he was a lecturer as well as Research Associate in the Economic Growth Centre and Visiting Fellow at Berkeley College, Yale.

From 1968 until 1971, he was based at the University of Cambridge where he was initially appointed as Research Officer in the Department of Applied Economics before becoming lecturer in Economics at Queens’ College.  During this time he was also Research Associate in the Centre of Latin American Studies (1970 to 1971).  Between 1965 and 1967, he was Technical Director of the Commission of Social Studies at the University of Havana, Cuba.
