Welcome

Latest News: Classics at Glasgow rated the UK's best in the National Student Survey: 100% student satisfaction for another year.

The Department of Classics in the University of Glasgow is a friendly, popular, and thriving department with almost 300 undergraduate students and a dozen active postgraduates.

Classics has been integral to the history of the university since its very beginnings. The current department aims to build on its fine traditions and combine them with the best of modern practice in teaching and research.

The department has a vibrant research culture and as part of the Faculty of Arts, we cultivate strong links with related departments, whose staff include researchers with an interest in the ancient world.

The Classics Department is located at 65, Oakfield Avenue, just down the hill from the main campus, the excellent University Library and the Hunterian Museum.
