Welcome

Classics in the University of Glasgow is a friendly, popular, and thriving subject with almost 300 undergraduate students and a dozen active postgraduates.

Classics has been integral to the history of the university since its very beginnings. In the current subject area, we aim to build on the university's fine traditions and combine them with the best of modern practice in teaching and research.

The subject has a vibrant research culture and as part of the School of Humanities and the College of Arts we cultivate strong links with related subjects, whose staff include researchers with an interest in the ancient world.

Classics is located at 65, Oakfield Avenue, just down the hill from the main campus, the excellent University Library and the Hunterian Museum.
