CEES offers a unique place for postgraduate study
Our programme of postgraduate research training (MRes) and PhD supervision have recognition from the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Moreover, CEES is the lead department in the inter-institutional Centre of Excellence, the Centre for Russian, Central and East European Studies (CRCEES).
CEES provides a very lively and supportive environment for our postgraduate students:
- We run an extensive programme of events that includes: conferences, seminars, public policy days, annual research forums, film series, and workshops.
- You may participate in the 2-week summer school, funded by CRCEES, which is organised annually in a different Central and East European country.
- There is also the opportunity to spend a month in the city of Ul'ianovsk in Russia. The visit includes intensive Russian language classes and a full cultural programme including visits to Moscow and Kazan.
- You will benefit from an intensive programme of language training with teaching available for complete beginners and those with an existing knowledge of a given language. Language training is normally available in a choice of Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Polish, Russian, Slovak and Ukrainian.
