Archaeology of Forteviot

In the fields surrounding the village of Forteviot, Perthshire there is a wide variety of archaeological remains.  These remains are now largely invisible above the ground as they would have been predominantly made of wood and earth.  The wood would have decayed and the earthen features have been buried by centuries of ploughing these rich agricultural fields.  Nonetheless, since the mid 1970s aerial photography has recorded an array of archaeological features which were revealed by patterns in crop growth.
