Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the ongoing learning and development of teachers throughout their careers. All teachers in Scotland have a contractual commitment to undertake 35 hours of CPD per year.

There are a a wide range of experiences that can contribute to professional development, including reading, attending conferences and courses that are on offer.

CPD Opportunities should:

  • Address development needs
  • Maximise strengths
  • Enable you to meet the challenges of teaching in the 21st Century.
