Egyptology
Two Certificates in Egyptology are available: one focuses on reading and interpreting hieroglyphs and ancient Egyptian texts (Language), and the other on the study of ancient Egyptian culture and history through artefacts and sites (Material Culture). As a grounding for both Certificates, you choose from a suite of courses at level one designed to introduce various individual aspects of ancient Egyptian culture - art, archaeology, history, language and religion. At level two, you begin to specialise either in language or material culture. As a final step, you design your own short research project in the area of Egyptology of your choice. The Certificates in Egyptology can be completed in three to four years (subject to course availability), but no time limit is imposed.
To complete either certificate (120 credits) you must gain 120 credits in Egyptology subjects:
