This event is intended to establish a cross-disciplinary forum in which to assess the evidential significance of orality and oral history. To this end Verne Harris (Project Manager of the Centre for Memory at the Nelson Mandela Foundation) will open proceedings with a public lecture entitled ‘Telling the Stories of a Continuing Walk to Freedom: Nelson Mandela and the Archive’, on Tuesday 24 July 2007.

The conference will be held in the leafy West End of Glasgow at the Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre (WILT),  a suite of modern rooms in the University of Glasgow's main campus.
