College of Social Sciences Research Office

The College of Social Sciences Research Office provides flexible, accessible research support to a diverse community of researchers. The aim of the College Research Office is to foster and enhance research activity across the College through:

  • Working with the College Management Team on the development, implementation and monitoring of College Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy and Policy
  • Working with academic staff across the College to support and develop research funding proposals
  • Co-ordinating College Unit of Assessment (UoA) submissions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF)
  • Working with the Board of Directors of the Adam Smith Research Foundation (ASRF) to promote interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange both within the College and beyond
  • Promoting research outputs to maximise impact and reputation.

The College Research Office supports the Dean of Research, Professor Catherine Schenk, and is staffed by Louise Virdee (College Research Manager) and Jon Lewin (College Research Information Officer).
