The MA (Social Sciences) degree programme requires students to study three subjects in Year 1 and two of these subjects are then carried on to study in Year 2. Under the modular structure for courses, this requires students to select courses in each subject to make up 40 credits per subject. In most subjects this will involve selecting two courses of 20 credits each (ie course 1A and course 1B).  In a few cases, one 40 credit course may be required instead.  It is important to check out whether there might be timetable issues for courses in both Years 1 and 2, for example Psychology and Geography are a possible combination at Level 1 but not at Level 2 because of a course timetabling clash.

If possible course choices should be checked before seeing your Adviser of Studies using the Undergraduate Course Catalogue as the main source of information on courses, times and any prerequisites for moving from Level 1 to Level 2 and on to Honours.
