Top skills employers look for in graduates
Believe it or not it is not necessarily your degree that is the top factor employers consider when recruiting graduates. Developing practical employability skills is equally important. Have a look through the range of activities available on the College of Social Sciences Employability webpages to find out how you can develop these skills alongside your studies.

If you want to improve your employability and take part in a certificated programme which employers will value take a look at our Graduate Skills Programme. So, why not think about joining clubs and societies; discover interests and skills you never knew you had; get involved in volunteering; reflect on your outside hobbies and interests; become a Student Ambassador, or even represent your classmates as a student representative. Getting involved in extra-curricular activities will help you develop the kinds of skills that graduate employers are looking for. It will also give you something to write and talk about on your CVs, applications, covering letters and interviews.
