Networking and relationship building

Networking and Relationship Building

There is a need for new mechanisms to enable linkages between researchers and the market place and for partnerships with other organisations with complimentary technology development skills in order to more efficiently derive impact from our research base.

KTA supports the development of new relationships and networks to enable the identification, creation and implementation of KT opportunities.  Specific mechanisms include:

Innovation Sandpits

Within the university, we understand what are our strengths are.  However, we need to find mechanisms to understand how these map onto and can be applied to address industry's challenges.  Through facilitated innovation sandpits we will bring together users (existing and new partners) and academics to identify and define challenges or opportunities and to identify possible solutions with the aim of developing focussed and exploitable KT projects.  The KTA is in a position to fund initial project activities through the mechanisms below.

Calls for themed sandpits will be released throughout the year along with directed invitations to attend one of our sessions.  We aim to run at least three innovation sandpits during the course of the year.

Promotion and Events

The key to building new relationships and partnerships for KT activities is through networking and promotion of the University's capabilities and track record in responding to industry needs.  KTA will therefore be organising a series of industry focussed seminars and attending various exhibitions and conferences with a view to identifying market needs and mapping this onto our research excellence
