Richard Bowman working in the optics group in collaboration with Kleindiek Nanotechnik has developed a iPad interface to their micromanipulation system. Micro manipulators are miniature tools that can push, probe and twist objects on a micron scale. The iPad provides the user with an intuitive interface where hand gestures and fingertip motion is demagnified many fold to give precise nanometre control.
