The Science and Engineering Graduate School offers opportunities for study in a thriving postgraduate research community with formal supervision provided by staff working in world-renowned research groups. There are exciting opportunities to undertake cutting-edge and innovative research not only in established disciplined-based areas, but also in cross-cutting research themesĀ where our core strengths are combined.

PhD (Doctor of Philosophy): three to four years full-time or six years part-time study;

EngD (Engineering Doctorate): four or five years full-time study with an emphasis on research in an industrial context;

MSc (Master of Science) by Research: one or two years full-time or two or three years part-time study, depending on prior qualifications
The normal standard of admission for a research student is a good First Class or Upper Second Class honours degree (GPA 3.0 or above) (or Masters) in a relevant discipline. In special circumstances, other academic qualifications, or professional qualifications or experience, may be recognised as equivalent.
