The  Industry Day programme has been designed to facilitate close interaction and engagement with our research community, allowing you to freely explore our extensive range of research activities, tools/technologies, and services within our seven research institutes:

The College’s integrated multi-disciplinary approach spanning the science, pathology and clinical development across a range of diseases, coupled with state-of-the-art facilities/enabling technologies, offers new insights into our understanding and management of disease, helping to drive novel diagnostic and treatment solutions.

Professor Anna Dominiczak, Head of College acknowledges the importance of academic-industrial collaborations in advancing science and said ‘I want this event to enhance the College’s interface with industry, and in particular encourage collaborations which will expedite the translation and future impact of our exciting research developments at Glasgow.’

Our research developments in bioprocessing and synthetic biology have the potential to impact positively on a broad range of applications in industry. A holistic approach is essential to understand the interdependence of animal and human populations, ecosystems and the environment; our research explores the consequences of this interdependence for disease pathogenesis and transmission, food security and the conservation of species and habitat.

We want your day to be as productive as possible. To maximise your time a programme of one-to-one interactive round-table discussions will run throughout the day allowing registrants the opportunity to readily explore research topics, themes and collaborations of potential interest and benefit to your industry requirements.

The day also offers the opportunity to investigate other initiatives at the University of Glasgow which can help promote academic-industrial interactions including:

  • Industrial Partnership Ph.D. Scheme encouraging innovative collaborations, solutions and competitiveness with companies of all sizes, UK or overseas.
  • Small Grant Scheme of up to £5,000 fostering academic engagement/collaboration with Scottish SMEs.
  • Easy Access IP, which accelerates access to a selected intellectual property portfolio.

We look forward to welcoming you and your colleagues to our Industry Day on 28th March 2012!
