College of Arts PhD Scholarship Competition 2017/18

College of Arts PhD Scholarship Competition 2017/18

The College of Arts is delighted to be able to offer a number of Scholarships for students undertaking a doctoral programme in the College of Arts Graduate School in session 2017/18. These scholarships will include around 4 hours per week of internship duties.

Applications from new and continuing students are ranked by Subject Area committees and then considered by the College Scholarship Committee.

Eligibility criteria:

  • In order to be nominated for a scholarship, applicants must hold an unconditional or conditional offer of a place on a College of Arts PhD degree programme. Further details of Arts subject areas and the Admissions application process are available using these links.
  • Applicants must not be holding another full Scholarship for the 2017/18 academic session. Applicants holding a part scholarship (e.g. fees only or stipend only) may still be considered.
  • Home, EU and International students are all eligible to apply. However, in the case of International students, any award will be limited to tuition fees only.
  • Only new PhD students will be eligible (full-time or part-time).

How do I apply for a Scholarship?
All students, including continuing research students, wishing to be considered for a Scholarship should complete a Scholarship application form. Please ensure that you read the Guidance Notes for Applicants carefully before attempting the application form.

Guidance Notes and the application form for 2017-18 will be posted here soon.

What is the value of the Scholarship?

The 2017/18 annual stipend rate is still to be agreed. Scholarships normally offer an annual stipend, plus tuition fees at the Home/EU rate.

What is the deadline for applying?
Applications for both Admissions and Scholarships must be submitted to the University by a date to be announced soon but this is likely to be mid-December 2016. Applicants should expect to be informed of the outcome of the Scholarship competition by mid-April 2017.
