The Ecuador Project will not be running as of September 2009, as we endeavour to ensure that all of the projects offered by SVA fit in tightly with its aims.

Despite my attempts to remove this web page it appears that you have still found it, so may I direct your attention to the other varied projects offered by SVA this year.

Protect the Amazon

The overall aims of the SVA program in Ecuador this year will be to promote eco-friendly practices, teach some English and provide the townspeople with a small park for community gathering. The team will work with the locals to acheive these aims. The team's time will be split between working on the park, time in the classroom with the children, and time in the town working with the whole community (and possibly other communities!) trying to promote eco-friendly practices. The project will take eight weeks.

Organisation

The team will stay with the selected families to gain a genuine experience of living in an Ecuadorian Quechua village. There will be about eight hours of work a day with time for a siesta. This will all be taking place a short canoe ride from the town of Tena at a the small village of Ahuano located on the Rio Napo.

The target for each volunteer to fundraise will be £450 but we will do this as a group.

Join us!

We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, hard working, motivated, diplomaitc, ready to adapt to new/wonderful/bizzare situations, able to show inginuity, and great communicators. A grasp of Spanish is desirable, but not essential, and you must be willing to learn the basics. So, if you are those things (or at least some of them!) and want to do something different next summer, meet new people, help the Ecuadorian rainforest and without a doubt have the most amazing experience of your life, make that step and apply. You will not regret it for one minute!

Ecuador

Ecuador is a small tropical country sitting between Peru and Columbia. However, for such a small country, it boasts so much to see and do. You can climb snow-capped volcanoes, go rafting in world class rapids, shop in crowded markets or snorkel at secluded beaches. The country has amazing coral reefs, gorgeous mountains and of course beautiful rainforests.
