Glasgow University Sub-Aqua Club (GUSAC)

Updated 12/July/07

Important Announcement 12/July/07

Due to the very active nature of the club i.e. we dive at least every weekend, it is proving impossible to keep this website upto date with latest information on trips. Therefore from now the website will contain only basic information. For more specific information on the club and current diving and social plans please contact a committee meeting (see contacts page), or meet us at the pub!

Who we are

Welcome to the Glasgow University Sub-Aqua Club (GUSAC) website! We are based at University of Glasgow, and affiliated with both the Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA) and Sport and Recreation Service (SRS). We are a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (Branch 9150) British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) and all our divers are trained using the BSAC training scheme.

What we do

We are a club concerned with all things scuba and over the years we have introduced hundreds of people to the UKs' waters and have an exemplary safety record. We welcome absolute beginners and qualified divers, trained by other agencies, such as the Professional Association of Divers International (PADI).

Where do we dive?

Through support from the University of Glasgow we are one of the best-equipped clubs in Scotland. We dive throughout the year and regularly visit Loch Long, Loch Fyne and the Clyde (West Coast) and St. Abbs (East Coast). We also dive further afield; for example we have recently visited Ullapool (June 2006), Scapa Flow (June 2006 and July 2007), Farne Islands (August 2006 and 2007) and Mull (September 2006 and 2007). GUSAC members can also participate in trips run by other clubs and we encourage our divers to take part in dives run by organisations such as the marine exploration and conservation project SEASEARCH.

Details of our training and general information about the club can be obtained at Freshers Fair, or by contacting one of the committee, or come along to our club night at the Glasgow University Union bar every Thursday, anytime after 8.30pm (Please note we meet in Gallus on the corner of Dumbarton Road and Church Street during the summer). You can also keep up to date with all things happening in the club by subscribing to our e-mail list.

Happy Diving!

Kate Openshaw (GUSAC President)
