26th October 2006 ̵ Website

After discussion with the Io Committee, I have decided to archive IoWeb. This site will become deprecated and no longer updated. Everything of value on this site is now available on the wiki and forum, which will form the replacement for IoWeb. Schedules and 'this week at Io' information are available from the front page of the wiki.

I've been running this website for far too many years, so it's with a sigh of relief that your webmaster signs off...

25th October 2006 ̵ Annual General Meeting

This week Io chooses the committee to run the society for the coming year. A full list of nominations can be found on the wiki. Also see the wiki for information about committee positions and the responsibilities involved in each one. Further nominations for positions can be made on the evening. The AGM will be followed by board game silliness. Bring along your favourite games.

The AGM will take place in the QM Committee Room 2 from 7pm, and we encourage all members to attend to have their say in the running of the society. We will also be having dinner in the Food Factory from 6pm.

Update: The new committee for the 2006/07 session consists of:

18th October 2006 – Superhero Game

A game. Involving superheroes. What more do you need to know?

The game will happen in QM Committee Room 2 from 7pm and we'll be having dinner in the Food Factory from about 6pm.

(Friday) 13th October 2006 – Laser Quest

Run around shooting your new friends! Possibly to a Beatles soundtrack. Meet under the clock at Central Station at 6.30pm (Note: corrected from 6.00pm). It will cost £8 for an hour of gaming (plus train fare).

11th October 2006 – Kitsch Films

Sway to the soundtracks, swoosh with the winged people, fear Brian Blessed. This week, Io brings you popcorn films that were made with the definition of kitch in mind: Flash Gordon and Barbarella.

The funky films will happen in QM Committee Room 2 from 7pm and we'll be having dinner in the Food FActory from about 6pm.

(Saturday) 7th October 2006 – Day of Animation

Spend a whole day watching animated films. See the wiki for the schedule. The fun starts in the QM TV/dressing room (opposite the men's toilets on the third floor) from 10.30am. Remember, there are no adverts or trailers, so don't be late!

4th October 2006 – Abita's Quiz

Apparently a cross between Mastermind and Cranium. This this suggests games, drawing and charades as run by John Humphreys. And that's exactly what you're getting. With Radio 4's finest substituted for the no less tough Abita. Be careful, or she'll Look at you.

The game will happen in QM Committee Room 2 from 7pm and we'll be having dinner in the Food FActory from about 6pm.

27th September 2006 – Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl

The film that restarted interest in pirates. And not just because of Johnny Depp and Keira Knightly. Come along and meet the regulars as well, for a pint after the film. The film will be shown in Committee Room 2 in the Queen Margaret Union at 7pm and we'll be meeting for dinner in the Food Factory in the QM from about 6pm.

22nd September 2006 – Freshers' Meal and Party

The meal will be in Stravaigin 2 restaurant at 8 Ruthven Lane, Glasgow G12 9BG at 6.30pm, followed by a party at Abita and Jonathan's flat. The pre-theatre menu should cost about £12 for two courses.

Meet on the steps of the Queen Margaret Union at 6pm.

New schedule available
