Committee

The committee is voted into office by the club members at the AGM. This is held once a year in early April. If you are interested in helping out, volunteering or being coerced into being on the committee in the future, please have a chat with the current members about what is involved with the various roles.

Please contact the relavent committee member with any questions you may have. Alternatively the whole committee can be contacted by email: fencing-committee@gla.ac.uk

President - Louise Creechan

The president is responsible for keeping the club running smoothly, dealing with GUSA, BUCS, SUS and other letters of the alphabet.

Vice-President - James Poole-Cowley

The Vice-President helps and assists the President with club leadership

Treasurer - Oliver Jennings

The treasurer looks after the club's money. Be nice to them or we won't be allowed to buy anything.

Secretary - Belinda Beresford

The secretary takes minutes at meetings and AGMs, organises paperwork related things, membership and other stuff you would associate with a club secretary.

Social Secretary - Amanda Lillywhite

The social secretary organises social aspects of club life. It's vitally important that we have a chance to get to know one another with our masks off and they make sure there's plenty of opportunities for that.

Armourer - Chris Weatherill

The armourer has the best job title of the entire committee. Very medieval-sounding. The job itself involves fixing things - wires, swords, boxes and general fiddly things.

Trainee Armourer - Jolene Van Der Mescht

The trainee armourer is just that: an armourer in training. Armoury is quite complicated and our armourers put their lives on the line, risking electric shock, to ensure the rest of us are kept safe. Hence the training. The property manager gets to deal with non-broken kit. They ensure it's all up to code and legal to use. They are also in charge of the health and safety of the club, so they will be the one telling you to put your shoes on and wear a mask.
