Welcome to the new website of the University of Glasgow’s men’s basketball club, Scotland’s elite University basketball programme.

The University of Glasgow men’s basketball program provides excellent opportunities for aspiring student athletes to develop in the game of basketball and continues to show growth and expansion each season, the programme offers basketball at every level from a recreational drop in session through to the Scottish senior national league, the country’s top division. The last few years have without a doubt been the most successful in the clubs history. The 2010/11 season seen the club enter the senior national league for the very 1st time securing an extremely impressive 4th place finish in the regular season and a playoff semi final spot. The 2010 season also saw the 1st team secure their first BUCS title in over 25 years as well as clinching a place in the BUCS northern premier conference, becoming the first team in Glasgow’s history to reach this standard. Our 2nd team has also had a fantastic run of late, winning their BUCS conference in only their 3rd season in existence and secured a respectable 3rd place finish in the regional Strathclyde league.

Due to our success there has been a dramatic increase in the number of students interested in the programme. For this reason the club has decided to launch a 3rd team from the 2011/12 season onwards to help cope with the demand and no matter what your level of play the basketball club is able to offer you expert coaching in a professional and welcoming environment.

The coaching staff and club committee aim to provide a programme which will provide student athletes the opportunity to pursue their sport at the highest level whilst attaining a degree at the University of Glasgow. The programme also has aspirations to be the best higher education based basketball programme in the UK and endeavours to offer the best environment for an elite athlete to improve on a daily basis.
