University of Glasgow Staff Angling Club

Loch Lomond

Membership of Glasgow University Angling Club is available to all categories of University staff.

The Angling Club has received support by the Ferguson Bequest. Professor Thomas Ferguson (1900-1977), Henry Mechan Chair of public health (1944-1964), bequeathed his estate to the University, with the instruction that the money should be used to foster the social side of University life.

Members of the club have access to a stocked trout loch which has two well maintained boats (limited membership)and two hill lochs containing brown trout. In addition, our angling club members can fish for salmon and sea-trout on loch and rivers. Outings to other lochs and rivers are arranged by the club Secretary. A trophy is presented to the angler who records the best catch from one of these venues.
