Minutes of the Previous Meeting

Proposed - Ewan Seconded - Laura

Correspondence

  • Mark would like us all to go to his friend’s disco. He also wishes to take our newest associate member to the Garage on the 19th April
  • We have received our SRC grant cheque
  • Nicola will send off the scores

SRC Meeting

The SRC will be producing a Clubs&Socs Handbook as well as next term’s newsletter. We are invited to take part in the Rectorial Procession on 4th May. The Freshers’ Fayre was complained about and they will consider having a separate commercial day for clubs etc. The idea of a societies ball (a la GUSA) was raised. They might move their training days to the end of Whitsun Term when people are less busy. Our societies e-mail account should be up and running. They have said there’s nothing they can do about the minibus problem. Tony found out how to complain about Estates&Buildings.

Theatres

Cottiers is very nice, but very impractical. The Mitchell is lovely and also free the week we want it. We have no price yet, but we also have no real other options: the New Athenaeum is tiny and very hard to get during term time. At this point Laura was given special dispensation to switch her phone in during the meeting and try and get a worst case cost scenario from Mark - it was £2500. The woman wants a letter of confirmation. As she hasn’t asked for a deposit, we will write and confirm that we do want the relevant week, subject to receipt of an appropriate quote.

Dinner Dance

  • Anne has bought her dress but Nicola needs underwear, apparently.
  • In light of the foot-and-mouth outbreak the hotel has changed the menu to turkey, which is also £1.55 cheaper per head. We need to know vegetarian numbers in advance. Andy Walker can’t speak. Ian sent a list of suggestions to the meeting. It was decided that Tony would try to ask the new rector, whom failing we will invite Iain Campbell. It was agreed that only the guest speaker and not the whole top table should get free drinks.

AOCB

  • Anne has a list of people who want to go to 42nd Street.
  • We now have a fridge for the office.
  • Ewan invited everyone out for curry on his birthday.

Next Meeting

Unless something really urgent crops up during the holidays: Thursday 19th April, 6pm, Committee room 1

Meeting Closed at 8.19pm
