Commitee Meeting Minutes
Minutes of Cecilian Society Committee Meeting 04/07/02
Present: Libby, Gregor, Nicola, Tony, JP, Ali, Adele.
Apologies: Eliza, Cate, Chris, Nadia, Liam, Jenny.
Meeting opened 6.08pm
Minutes of previous meetings proposed Adele, seconded JP.
1 - Contract
Ali has contracts ready to send off for both WSS and BLW. They were read
over by various members of the committee as an extra check before sending
them off. Samuel French are giving us a discount for only having the parts
for 10 days. The royalties are still the same. The material hire will cost
£50 and band parts are £37.50. Ali needs a cheque for perusal
material and postage.
2 - John Paul
John-Paul is reconsidering his place in the society. He feels that he has
put a lot of effort into the running of the society but hasnt got what he
wanted out of it. He feels he may have different ideas about what the
committee should be doing than other members. He will stay on the committee
until at least October to keep up the quorum. After that, he will think
about it again.
3 - Merchandising
Nicola phoned EHA about the rugby shirts. They have already done the order
so it will be the 60% size of logo rather than the smaller one but this may
have been necessary anyway because of the writing. The shirts will now be
delivered to Nicolas work instead of Adeles flat. Adele will phone to ask
for an invoice as we need to pay before they will send them out.
4 - AOCB
- JP will send Tads parcel tomorrow.
- JP will send the article to Jo Odds as the deadline is soon.
- Tony has applied for a stall at the Freshers Fayre.
- David Doig asked if the medics could rehearse with our piano in exchange
for a full page advert in their programme. Cant be done as the QM isnt open
on Sundays in September.
5 Communication in meetings
Ali raised the fact that he didnt feel he could speak freely in meetings
sometimes, for example at the Choosing the Production Team meeting. Others
had also felt this. It was agreed that people should raise it at the time
if they dont feel able to say what they want to.
It was also stated that people shouldnt take things personally. Many
members of the committee have known each other for a long time and this can
make decisions very difficult. When decisions involving people are made, it
is done for the society, not on personal grounds and so everyone needs to
remember that.
It was noted that when decisions such as choosing a production team are
being made, the committee discussions are confidential. What is said should
not be passed on to the candidates.
5 Any other other competent business
Tony is having a ceilidh dance in Bishopbriggs on the 19th of July. This is
an open invitation to the society.
We will have a meeting next Wednesday if there is anything on the agenda by
Tuesday. If you want to discuss something let Libby know before Tuesday or
she'll send a message out to cancel the meeting.
Meeting closed 6.24pm
