Minutes Cecilian Society Committee Meeting 28/11/02

Meeting opened – 6.10pm

Libby apologized for being late to take minutes. Her singing teacher doesn’t understand the phrase – ‘I need to be somewhere else at 6 o’clock’. Random correspondence from Russian groups etc. Gregor showed us email at end of meeting.

WSS Publicity

Adele had invoice - £348. Adele has posters and flyers. Dates are wrong on the booking form. Will need to print out stickers and stick them on. Nicola will give Adele disk with the flyer on it. Will try and do it before Christmas. Adele will get stickers by next week and we can divide up the work next week.

Ceilidh post mortem

£296 on the night. Made a loss because of hiring the band etc. Not too bad as we have made profit on last few events. Thanks to Curlers for letting us go there. Eliza didn’t know to do certain things – would like more help next time. The QM didn’t help us at all so we just need to keep checking all the time that we have bookings. We should remember the band as they were really good. Good progressive dancing for an inter-society ceilidh. Adele has paid for PA system – she has the receipt.

Ticket Manager

Lorna Bailey will do it with Eliza and Cate as in-cast managers. JP will ask her to next weeks meeting to discuss it with her. Jenny is also keen to help.

Christmas Choir

Rehearsal on Sunday. Adele – 22nd December is fine in Buchanan Galleries. 1.30 – 2.30pm for Marie Curie. Nicola wants to be able to drink water. She has been prevented in the past. Adele will ask. Next Friday – having a tree lighting at hospice. Ali will see at the rehearsal about who can all go. Ali has old peoples addresses. Music Club – 18th, 22nd Buchanan Galleries. 13th and 14th One Act festival in the evening.

Whorehouse video

Not ready yet. Sam is going to help Nicola out.

Weekend Away

Libby will email the places – book 30 places. Will report next week- will provisionally book them. If not, Cate wants us to try the Lake District.

Moments from musicals

Chris has lots of entries. We should encourage lots of new people to take part. Sam will provide a video camera. Tony will ask Mark about getting copies of things like H2$. Need to talk to someone in charge (better to ask John?) about buffet. Will probably have to pay for either buffet or karaoke machine. Pay to get in and participation fee.

50th account

Have money left over in account. What should we do with it? Decided to just close it and put it into main account.

Affiliation

Need a copy of the constitution. Get it from the website. Cate has membership list. Ali will get people to update the list to make sure we have all their details. Cate will email Ali the list so that he could do the attendance sheet. Will announce the procedure for not coming to rehearsals again tonight as people still getting it wrong.

Announcement

Adele wants rugby shirts to be announced tonight. £25 for members.

Bookings

Eliza will go to Mark Bryars for long term booking. 2pm – 10pm on Sundays.

WSS + Schools

Adele has been doing letters for school. Encourage them to come on sat matinee. Could do 2 free adult tickets for every 10 children. Also like the tour last year – could maybe provide that for schools. People who went to school in Glasgow will be asked to get contact details for the schools so the letters can go out next week.

Adele will phone about posters outside the Mitchell. Kings publicity will happen after Christmas.

The photographer should be asked about coming again. Great photos for 2 tickets. Nicola will get in touch with him about doing the photos for the programme.

AOCB

JP suggested that we could see if the SRC would let us put Lorna’s piano in the Williams Room. Is safe, and Lorna’s happy.
Damp – the panel needs to be stripped and revarnished on the piano.
Miss Saigon till February. People want to go after Christmas. Also want to go to Beauty and the Beast.
2 torches missing – will pay for them as they have not shown up. Liam will speak to them and see what they need to get. Could ask them to buy a replacement and give us a receipt.
